Dorset Tourism Awards 2022/23
2023 is our 20th year running the Dorset Heavy Horse Farm Park as an independent family business - which is much better described as a way of life! We were over the moon to have been presented the Silver Small Visitor Attraction of the Year award at the DTA ceremony held at Bovington Tank Museum on the 26 January and would like to thank everyone for their ongoing support.

Restoration Corner - Recently restored on the farm
From hand painted Wagons to restoring Old Vehicles, we undertake a range of restoration projects here on the farm. We have recently restored a Victorian hand-powered swinging chairs ride which has been enjoyed by many this season! Our 1927 Scammell Chain Drive Tanker has also been restored to it's former glory as 'Sir Basil' reaches almost 100 years of age.

Awaited Suffolk Foal - Sad news shared
We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been in touch after sharing the sad news of the expected foal. We are completely touched by your kindness and are truly humbled for the support. Sadly we were unable to welcome another Suffolk Punch this year but will not give up on our breeding programme in order to support the critically endangered Heavy Horses.

TripAdvisor - Travellers Choice 2022
We are a small family run attraction, our passion is to provide the best possible day out for every generation whilst doing all we can to protect the rare breed heavy horses. We are delighted to be recognised as a 5* rated visitor attraction as well as receiving the TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Award 2022 which provides worldwide recognition. We thank you for taking time to review your experiences with us!

Rascal - Receiving medical attention
Rascal recently suffered a very serious injury and has been receiving medical attention. This was an extremely testing time for us all as we had to face the harsh reality that this was something he may not recover from. As the months have passed, we are pleased he has made gradual improvement and is well on the road to recovery.

Dorset Horses, Adventure Play
Despite the many challenges the farm park faces due to Covid-19, we felt that we could not allow it stand in the way of delivering you the best day out we possibly can. We look forward to children embracing their sense of adventure with outdoor recreation during 2021 after months of isolation. Let's hope we have a brighter year ahead!

Suffolk Punch - Critically Endangered
Sadly, there are now less than 300 Suffolk Punches registered in the UK. The Suffolk Punch is the oldest breed of heavy horse to exist in its present form. It is vitally important that we not only look after the few which remain today and support the conservation of the Heavy Horse but also raise awareness.
